I believe it is time for Donald J. Trump to resign from the position of President of the United States of America. With a pandemic raging around the world, the United States in virtual lockdown, and the world economy (and ours) in a tailspin—all within the last four weeks—we cannot afford the luxury of having an egotistical, arrogant, and brainless fool in the White House. If the Novel CV-19 virus wasn’t bad enough when it reached our shores just about a month ago, Trump’s claiming that it was just another media hoax, his failure to take action, and the actions that he and his Administration had taken to weaken our ability to respond to a public health crisis has probably doubled or tripled the number of deaths we Americans will experience if he had only instituted ‘social distancing’ and public safety measures other countries had implemented weeks before.
As to how our President has helped the United States to ‘be prepared’ for a pandemic, consider the following. The Trump Administration has spent the last 3 years enacting policies and cutting budgets that have weakened our government’s ability to prepare for and respond to a pandemic. In May of 2018, Donald Trump ordered the National Security Council Chief of its’ global health unit to resign and the entire global health security unit to be shut down. And, just the month before, Trump’s National Security Advisor, John Bolton pressured the head of the Department of Homeland Security’s epidemic unit and his entire team to resign. Neither the NSC nor the DHS epidemic team has been replaced. Further, the Trump Administration plans to cut the U.S. Public Health Service Commission workers by 40%—if — Congress will let them. And, what did our ‘Perfect’ President say about the pandemic crisis and our failure to be prepared to cope with it? He said, “I have no responsibility for that.”
Harry Truman said, regarding a leader (or a President) taking responsibility when problems happen, “If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.” It’s time for the citizens of the United States of America to turn up the heat on Donald J. Trump and get him out of the kitchen by calling for his resignation. At this time in America, we need a real leader. Unfortunately, we have an arrogant, egomaniac, fool as our President. I believe it is time that we throw him out of office if he doesn’t resign—NOW! The only other ‘little’ problem is the personification of that famous question: what’s next?, i.e., who’s next? Just think of who will be Acting President if both Trump and Pence resign. Surprise!
